Updated: Manlove Park drowning victim identified
Authorities have identified a man who drowned Friday evening in a freak mishap at Manlove Park in northwest Fayette County.
Ronald Trueblood, 57, died about 5:45 p.m. in a mowing accident at Manlove.
According to the Department of Natural Resources, Trueblood, who was the caretaker at the park, died after the riding lawnmower he was operating lost traction along the bank of a lake and slid into the water. The mower reportedly flipped over onto Trueblood’s body, trapping him underwater.
Campers who found Trueblood reportedly pulled him to shore and attempted CPR. He was transported to Fayette Regional Health System where he was pronounced dead.
According to authorities, an autopsy is planned for this week and an investigation is continuing.
