Inmate, woman made plan for underage sex
WLFI-TV West Lafayette news story
Police in Connersville are pursuing charges against two people after they say an inmate tried to instruct someone on how to have sex with a minor.
Investigators found phone conversations between Fayette County Jail inmate Tracy Guffey, 32, and 31-year-old Amanda Mize, of Connersville. Police officials said Guffey spoke to Mize about how to get a boy drunk and have sex with him while Guffey was housed in jail.
In multiple conversations, the duo talked about what types of alcohol to use to get the boy drunk and where to enact their plan, according to police.
Officers follow Mize to a liquor store, where she was arrested before she could carry out the plan. It wasn’t immediately clear was charges she might face.
The investigation involved multiple departments: Connersville Police Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, the Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fayette County Department of Child Protection.
“I am glad that we were able to use our on hand technology to protect a child in our community on that day,” Connersville Police Detective Craig Pennington said in a prepared statement. “We worked quickly and efficiently to apprehend our suspect before this crime could happen.”
