Urban fails to apply for grant
Last year Connersville was denied a $250,000 grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for downtown improvements. Grant administrator Diana Wright said that the city could reapply this year, with the final application due by June 8.
But …
Feb 6 Connersville City Council meeting … Connersville Mayor, Leonard Urban, explains – ”We also applied for a grant (last year) to completely redo the downtown and we were denied and I didn’t want to ask for it again this year – we probably would have got it this next year but that would have meant that the whole downtown would have been tore up during the bicentennial. So we had to kinda let that go.”

We are having a celebration??,what for,the demise of our quaint little town as we used to know it,that’s why some of the houses are being torn down,to make us appear to be doing the right thing. How do you celebrate the States highest unemployment rated County,(city)?.John conner has rolled over in his grave many times by now with what his little trading post has become. So sad that our(leaders) have ran it in the ground.Enough with a celebration, pull out the hearse and bury this wretched place, god rest it’s sole.
This Urban guy seems to be a total screw up. What better for Connersville and its bicentennial than a quarter million dollar makeover for the future?
Would all the celebrities be offended by signs of progress?
Urban definitely seems to rule with a big stick and a set of blinders on.
He and the dentist only talk about this Carbon Motors hallucination and to hell with everything else.
Sad, so sad.
The grant must have had enough safeguards in place that Urban couldn’t skim any money off the bottom!
I think you hit the nail on the head blindmelon. There was nothing in it for Urban, so forget it. The people who voted him back in need to realize, Urban is our for Urban alone, and maybe a few close thiefs.
