Eyesore being ignored by City
According to Fayette County property records, this property at 701 Grand Ave. is one of 16 local properties owned by Monroe King. Many of these properties look in similar condition as this building. Once a prominent flower shop and record store, this structure has been consistently deteriorating for many years now, becoming an eyesore and potential for injury to local residents and liability to the city.
According to Area Plan Director, Bill MacDaniel, the responsibility to force the property owner to fix the problem lies with the City of Connersville -not the APC. Even though the City has been very active in spending money to raze numerous residential properties over the past four years, this business property is reportedly not on their radar. “As far as I know, the city isn’t doing anything with it,” MacDaniel said.
With the new Walmart now open in Connersville and hundreds of vehicles -many from outside of Connersville traveling by that building, what does it do to the cities image?

Maybe after these slums are tore down we can consider building HUD approved housing for all the people in this town without JOBS. The real focus should be JOBS. If we don’t get job’s in this town soon all of Connersville will be doomed and over taken by drugs and criminals. Oh wait! It already is…
Proof that if you have friends in the right places, you can get away with what others can’t. Be patient, I am sure that if he decides he wants it torn down, the city will do it for him just like they did one of the houses owned by a certain funeral home on 8th street.
Monroe King is Connersville’s #1 slum lord. Go look at 714 Western Avenue. There is a crack down the northside of the duplex that you can see inside the duplex. If Urbun really wants to clean up this town he would sue King and take ALL of his properties including his own home in Eby’s
If it were just a little closer to the Mayors funeral home it would have been down years ago! Anything unsightly around any Urban owned properties get torn down PDQ…..
