Updated: Several injured following police chase
Three people were injured, including the suspect, after a high-speed chase that began in Rush County ended in a three-vehicle crash at a busy northside intersection in Connersville.
Police say Ryan Foster, 26, faces as many as 13 charges after the pick-up truck he was fleeing authorities in crashed into an automobile at the intersection of 30th Street and Park Road. The impact forced the car into a van occupied by a woman and baby.
The man driving the car reportedly was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital. No information on his condition was immediately available. The woman was released after being treated at Fayette Regional Health System. The 2-month old child was not injured, authorities said.
The chase began in Rush County after Foster reportedly was seen leaving the scene of an alleged burglary. Foster’s truck reportedly entered Fayette County about 12:20 p.m. with officers from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and eventually the Connersville Police Department joining Rush County authorities in the chase.
Authorities say Foster drove his truck on side streets and in alleys while in Connersville. The chase – which reportedly reached speeds of 80 to 90 miles per hour – ended about 12:45 p.m. when Foster ran the stop light at 30th and Park Road and struck the car.
Foster is suspected of being involved in numerous burglaries in several area counties, authorities said. State Police are continuing an investigation.
